Commitment to Somerset

Since the launch of the project, Prysmian has prioritized engagement with the local community and have held numerous meetings with Somerset residents, local neighbors, and various boards and commissions.

The company has worked closely with Somerset officials to develop a sustainable plan for the building of the manufacturing facility at Brayton Point and has actively engaged with local residents and stakeholders to address concerns. Prysmian will continue to act as a good, responsive neighbor and looks forward to playing a positive role in the community.

Our Commitment

Prysmian has continued to listen to community feedback and concerns and as a result, has made additional, meaningful changes to the project including the following:

  • LIMITING VESSELS

    Allowing no more than one leased ship per year without shore-to-ship power to dock at Brayton Point until 2040, when shore-to-ship power is adopted industry-wide. That one leased vessel would be on-site for 7-10 days.

  • MEETING NOISE AND AIR GUIDELINES

    Ensuring that construction will meet all Somerset noise and air quality bylaws as well as all state and federal permit regulations.

  • SHORE-TO-SHIP

    Converting its entire fleet to shore-to-ship power – meaning a ship receives power from a source on land, enabling it to turn off diesel engines while docked. This is a first-of-its-kind undertaking, which will make Prysmian unique in the global market.
